Mike's original recordings are soulful, countrified, rockin' porch blues. Along with heart-felt ballads with great hooks, there's also a raw, in your face rock and roll attack that has to be heard.
Mike has finished his first CD, which was co-produced with John LaFoy. The CD contains thirteen original songs written by Mike, and two covers. Check out the Merchandise page for pricing and availability.
Mike is currently in the studio working on his sophomore effort, look for it to be finished late summer or early fall.
"We would like to express a heart felt thanks to all of our friends, personal and business, for their support and guidance in getting this first CD finished.
Thanks,
Mike & Company" | |
| Mike Matthews – Guitar and Vocals To open this artist's bag of tricks is mind boggling.
Full of raw "Rock n Roll" power blues, heart felt soul, catchy pop, and country. It has no limits. To put limitations on this 6 ft. vain, arrogant, self-centered guitarist (ha, ha) would be useless.
With a wide range of influences, from Buddy Guy and Chuck Berry to the Stones, Bob Dylan to Curtis Mayfield, Mott the Hoople and Status Quo to T. Rex. And more recently, White Stripes, Wilco, Velvet Revolver and Jett, and everything in between (You know all the guitar heroes we won't mention). As a good friend once said "This is a truly dangerous singer, song writer, guitarist flying under the radar"
In 30 odd years of playing the St. Louis club circuit and paying his dues, he has learned that you don't have to be categorized, or paint yourself in a corner musically. Entertainment is entertainment.
His drive and determination to play his own music will not be stopped. To catch his showcase show is a treat you won't forget!
